The evidence that genetically modified foods are harmful

I give below book titles and links to websites where you can read (for example) reports of pieces of university research and government studies into GM safety.

They paint a clear picture of the harmful nature of GM foods including

In the US, genetically modified food is widely consumed, but it is unlabelled. Therefore there is little direct evidence, either way, that the health of the general population has or has not been harmed. That is simply because when someone becomes ill, it is not known which genetically modified foods that person has consumed.

Books

The books that opened my eyes to the dangers of GM foods are both by Jeffrey M. Smith, with forwards by Michael Meacher MP, who was Minister of State for the Environment in the UK from 1997 to 2003.

They are "Genetic Roulette", published in 2007, and "Seeds of Deception", published in 2004. For details, see www.seedsofdeception.com

You will find in your reading that GM crops are even more harmful than I outlined here.

For example, pollen from gm crops can fertilise crops in the fields of neighbouring farmers who are growing conventional crops. The plants take in the harmful GM genes. Customers of the non-GM farmer eat his food and are harmed.

In fact it's even worse than that. Pollen from GM crops can fertilise wild plants. The wild plants can then continue with the harmful GM genes for generation after generation, perhaps for ever, all the while producing pollen that can fertilise non-GM crops. So even if the use of GM technology were stopped immediately, the harm to humans could continue for ever.
